David Gaines

Trained at the renowned Ecole Jacques Lecoq* in Paris, David Gaines is an specialist in field of stage movement and actor training through movement. He is the only American to have been invited by M. Lecoq to teach alongside him on the faculty of the Ecole.

He formed, co-directed, and performed for 10 years in the London-based Moving Picture Mime Show, which toured to great acclaim at every major theatre festival in the world, from Hong-Kong to Edinburgh, and New York to Vancouver.

He has created and directed performances for theatre companies in England, Paris, and Salzburg. , as well as his own award-winning solo performances.

He has taught at the graduate school of the University of Missouri (Kansas City), and now teaches at George Mason University. He also works as a professional clown at Children's Medical Center in Washington, DC.

As a teacher, his particular areas of expertise are:

- The Lecoq pedagogy of actor training
- Mask- work for performers (Neutral, Larval, and Commedia)
- Mime and clarity of movement for actors
- Theatrical storytelling
